About Us

Hi, we are your
Eat & Tell Dumaguete team.

We are a small family of three consisting of dad Will, mom Xelca, and little noodle Amalie. We have been living in Dumaguete City 90% of the time for the past 7 to 8 years. We fancy ourselves foodies who like to explore gustatory delights from holes-in-the-wall to fancy dining settings.

When people visit Dumaguete City, there is always the question, “Where to eat in Dumaguete?” It is the same query we asked when we first came to the City of Gentle People. And it is the very same ask from our friends and family who visit here.

This blog aims to answer that question. We hope you find something here that is the right category of food and budget for you.

“To eat and drink without a friend is to devour like the lion and the wolf.”

So ancient Greek philosopher Epicurus said. While awesome food is still enjoyable when eaten alone, there is something about being with family or friend that makes the food all the more delicious.

The food servings that you will see here on Eat & Tell Dumaguete are usually good for 2-3 people. In our case, it is 2 adults and a toddler. Of course, there will be recommendations for selections if you intend to enjoy food in solitude, too.

Categories

Hole in the Wall

Not quite street food, not quite a restaurant either. The hole in the wall is almost a hidden gem. You need to peel your eyes open to find them.

Carinderia

They are everywhere. And they are everyone’s go-to for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even meals in-between.

Street Food

Ubiquitous feature of Dumaguete City. Of any city or municipality, really. They are tucked in corners or lined up along sidewalks. Or have a designated place in the city, like the well-known Tempura Lane at the Rizal Boulevard.

Cafe

We all love a cafe. They are perfect places for meeting up with friends for catching up or for staying in to get things done for work or school. Despite the name cafe, they not only offer a varied selection of coffees, but non-coffee drinks as well. Of course, they have food offerings, too! Who doesn’t love a sweet or two to go with their pick-me-up drinks?

Restaurant

There are plenty of restaurants in Dumaguete and nearby towns. We have a few favorites in the city and in neighboring towns like Dauin and Valencia, too.

Last but not least…

Family Recipes

Delicious local and foreign foods straight from the kitchens of Dumaguete City dwellers!

The caffeinated team of WPRoastery.com

WPRoastery.com is a website design and website development service. They are a team based in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines. Coffee runs in their veins along with blood. Through their efforts, Eat & Tell Dumaguete started to come to life. They are responsible for laying down the foundations of the website. And they are the ones we know we will be bugging for website fixes in the future.
